Spring 2025 Updates
March 29, 2025
Dear all Mayfair Lane residents,
As we transition into spring, we have multiple updates for you.
Bulk Trash
Mayfair Lane is in the Fillmore district (as confirmed by Council Member Nowakowski), so April 6 is our bulk trash day. Please be sure to have your bulk trash out at the curb no later than April 6. Banned are electronic items such as TV monitors and computers, construction debris, and tires.
Gate Repair & Guidelines for Use
The chair of the Maintenance Committee, Mike C., had the upper-Lane east gate repaired and worked to have a push-code security system installed to help bolster security. See an email sent by the Board on 3.29.25 for the gate code. (You may need to press the “C” button to reset it before entering the code.) A keypad for the west gate is forthcoming. For safety and to preserve the structural integrity of the gate and surrounding brick, please be sure that you and guests do not jump the gate (unless it’s an emergency situation). And please give the gate code only to those with whom you would entrust your own house key.
Lower Lane Mail Delivery
During the Lane Restoration Project, mail delivery was diverted from the upper Lane to the lower Lane. Residents have requested that lower-Lane mail delivery become permanent. A Board member spoke to our mail carrier about moving mail delivery to the lower Lane; he said he encourages everyone to install a mailbox or at least have a dedicated receptacle for mail (such as a mail bag on the door).
A homeowner recently installed a keyed mailbox on their lower-Lane wall. If homeowners would like an example of a secure, attractive, and useful mailbox, we can send them a photo and information about this box and its installation.
Gardening
As warmer weather approaches, please be sure to consult the Mayfair Lane gardening guide. We encourage you to replant your garden in a timely manner.
We are formalizing the Gardening Committee, and we’d love to have you as a volunteer! The committee’s priorities will be: discussing common-area upkeep / aesthetics and helping organize group clean-up days (for common areas) throughout the year. The committee will not be involved in decisions about individual units’ gardens. Please send an email to the Board if you would like to volunteer for the committee!
Eastern Light Cap Repair
Please be aware that the upper Lane’s east light cap has fallen off and needs repair, along with some of its glass. Repairs are forthcoming.
Unlawful Car Entry
Unfortunately, unlawful car entry (and subsequent theft of items inside cars) on the lower Lane has been on the rise. With this in mind, please be vigilant and ensure that all doors are locked — on your vehicle(s) and house — and activate any security systems you may have.
Annual Lane-Wide Meeting
The annual Mayfair Lane meeting for all homeowners will be held Monday, April 28, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. We will send reminders and Zoom login information as the date approaches. Homeowners: We look forward to seeing you there!
Wishing you a pleasant weekend!
Respectfully,
Your Mayfair Lane Board
