End-of-Year Updates

December 28, 2024

Dear Mayfair Lane residents,

As the year comes to a close, we have updates on several topics for you! Please be advised about the following:

Tax Credits

In the Lane Restoration area of this website is the Certificate of Completion for the Lane Restoration Project, as well as the tax form (NYS Tax Form IT-237.pdf) and instruction sheet for Form IT-237 to claim state tax credits for homeowners’ contributions to the Lane Restoration Project. Please note that there may be individual rules and requirements that relate to these forms, and we recommend submitting them to your tax professional or accountant for review.

Delayed Trash Pickup During Holiday Season

Please note: Per the mayor’s office, the city will not conduct trash / recycling collection on New Year's Day, January 1. Instead, trash / recycling collection will occur on Thursday, January 2.

No Shoveling on Upper Lane

Please note that the upper Lane will not be shoveled this season. This is because the new materials atop the lane are still settling, and we need to prevent shovel/snow-blow damage to them. Also, the cost of including snow maintenance for the upper Lane doubles what we are paying for the lower Lane.

Please use caution if it is necessary for you to traverse the upper Lane. We advise you to use the lower Lane this winter season, especially when snow and ice are on the upper Lane. Please tell your guests that the upper Lane will not be shoveled. Also, for safety, please clear snow in front of your upper-Lane door, if possible, so that the snow doesn't impede the opening of the door.

Eastern Gate on Upper Lane

Abraxas has completed repair work on the upper Lane’s eastern gate! We now have a gate security mechanism! To use the gate, please use the same code as the garbage closet and other communal locked doors. We ask that you please test out this code, if you can. Unless residents experience a major problem with this gate and lock mechanism, Abraxas can start work on the west gate ASAP in the new year. Special thanks goes to Mike C., Chair of the Maintenance Committee, for working with Abraxas to ensure this repair was completed.

We hope everyone is having a holiday season full of warmth and peace. Happy New Year to all!

Respectfully,
Your Mayfair Lane Board

PS: A huge thank you to Steve A. for creating the lovely wreath that hangs at the front of Mayfair Lane!
