Early March Updates

Upper Lane is sunny

March 11, 2024

Dear Mayfair Lane Neighbors,

Happy (almost) spring. As things begin to warm up, workers are returning to the Lane to wrap up the reconstruction project. Last week, crews were able to take advantage of the warmer weather to apply the final coat of waterproofing on sections two and one of the upper Lane. Painters are expected back on site very soon for touch-up work. TRM is working to take advantage of this early spring to bring subcontractors back to site to finish their work. We will keep sending out messages with as much notice as possible when workers will be on site. Thank you all for your continued patience and flexibility on that front.

Please note, finish work remains on almost all aspects of the project, including laying the fieldstone, installing flashing, and completing the electrical and drainage. We’ll send updates as those steps are closed out.

As the subcontractors close out their work, we will also be working together with TRM to make sure everything is finished thoughtfully and thoroughly. If you see anything that looks unfinished, concerns you, or that you simply have questions about, please do not hesitate to tell us now. We already have a list of things to address with TRM and, through them, the subcontractors, and now is the time to flag anything in their work that may need additional attention.

If you see anything you would like addressed by TRM, let us know now in a reply to this email. We will start working through the list with them this week.

Please also note: Because this project has extended into 2024, the New York State historic tax credits related to the restoration of the Lane will be closed out this year, and thus will be applicable to tax returns you will file in 2025, for 2024. While we are all responsible for our own taxes, Board and other Lane volunteers are working to get a certificate of completion for the project, which will be distributed for our individual records and filings. Thank you to Dan H. for being our primary point of contact with the State, Dan B. for his wealth of past experience working on this for the Lane, and to everyone else who has helped on this front.

There will be more to come as we finish restoring the Lane to a safe, beautiful structure for generations to come. Thanks everyone.

Looking forward,

Bobby P.
On behalf of the Mayfair Lane Board of Directors
