Mayfair Lane: Work on Gates, Brick Pillars, Railing

Wrought iron railing

November 11, 2024

Dear Mayfair Lane neighbors,

Commencing this Tuesday (November 12th) morning, Abraxas will be working on the two upper Lane entrance gates and brick support pillars, along with re-securing the center wrought iron railing that was harmed during the recent Lane project.

Abraxas’ project should last no longer than two weeks, weather permitting, and it really should not interfere much with our daily routines. Scaffolding will be erected along the east side of the car entrance (nearest #1 MfL), but there will be room for vehicular ins and outs. There may be periods of time that the wrought iron and brick will be taken down, so for this reason, we ask that you please use the lower Lane whenever possible.

Once the project is complete, the gates will be working as originally planned.

We are also looking into a mechanical punch-key device, similar to what we use to enter the garbage closet, to be installed at each gate, accessible from both sides. This will add a layer of security to the upper Lane. It won't completely stop trespassers. However, sans the key-code, they will need to scale the gate to enter and will obviously be fully aware that they are trespassing. We are still researching this device, so it may not be ready on day one.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Maintenance Committee Chair, Mike C. Thank you!

Respectfully,
Your Mayfair Lane Board
